Root canal treatment and pulp therapy for children
Root canal treatment
Root canal treatment, or endodontic treatment, is an essential procedure for saving a tooth with damaged pulp. This damage can be caused by deep decay, a crack, or trauma. The treatment involves removing the infected pulp, cleaning and disinfecting the root canals, and then sealing them to prevent recurrence. If the inflamed or infected pulp is not treated, it can cause pain or lead to infection.
Pulp treatment for children
In children, permanent teeth may sometimes require specific treatment, especially if their roots are not fully formed (immature apex). In cases of deep decay, trauma, or infection, treatments such as apexification or revitalization may be considered to preserve the tooth and encourage natural closure of the apex.
