Wisdom teeth
Wisdom teeth
Wisdom teeth, also known as third molars, are the last teeth to appear, usually between the ages of 17 and 25. They can sometimes fit harmoniously into the dentition, but when there is not enough space for them to grow properly, they can cause pain, infection, or damage to adjacent teeth.
Wisdom tooth extraction is recommended if:
- They cause pain or recurrent infections.
- They may compromise the health of neighboring teeth.
- They are impacted or poorly positioned, with a risk of future complications.
- Orthodontic treatment is planned and requires sufficient space.
Treatment steps
- Preliminary consultation to assess the position of the teeth.
- Extraction under local anesthesia or conscious sedation.
Post-operative follow-up if necessary.
