Intravenous sedation

Sédation intraveineuse

What is intravenous sedation?

Intravenous sedation is a technique that involves administering medication intravenously to calm the patient during dental treatment. It significantly reduces stress and anxiety.

This method is ideal for:

  • Patients suffering from dental anxiety or phobias.
  • Complex or lengthy treatments.
  • Severe gag reflexes.
  • A relaxed and comfortable experience.

Before the procedure

Fast. The dentist will tell you how many hours you must refrain from eating and/or drinking before the procedure, depending on the sedative that will be used (on average 4 to 6 hours).

Special considerations

  • The patient must be accompanied home, as they will not be able to drive for 12 hours after the procedure.
  • They should rest for the rest of the day and avoid physical exertion.
